A little piece of earth

April 6, 2011

What the draw of a farm brings to a little one has always been a puzzle to me, but every little person I have ever encountered has been fascinated by the animals, the plants, the smell of raw earth.

We visited Centennial Farms over the weekend with the little guys. The cousins had so much fun attempting to explain the world to the smaller ones, trying to show them as much as possible in as short a span of time.

It was lovely seeing a little bit of open earth in the concrete jungle that is Orange County. A little bit of rambling, open fields, animal pens and wild flowers growing happily in their containers.

My heart rejoiced to have some earth under my feet and animals to feel move below my fingertips.
